Peer Support and Drop-In Centre
- Supporting those Infected or Affected by HIV / Hepatitis C by:
- HIV / Hepatitis C Counseling: We provide counseling, referrals and advocacy to individuals living with or at increased risk of infection of HIV and/or Hepatitis C, their families, partners and caregivers.
- Information Line: During office hours we provide confidential HIV and Hepatitis C information and support.
Resource Centre: We maintain resources containing pamphlets on HIV / Hepatitis C related subjects.
- Treatment Information: We provide up to date treatment information for individuals living with HIV / Hepatitis C through workshops, training sessions, displays, mailings and forums.
- Special Needs Fund: We provide limited financial assistance to individuals living with HIV / Hepatitis C.
- Partnership Development: We work with a broad range of organizations to implement sustainable community responses to HIV and Hepatitis C.
Community Support
- LHC Serves the Community by Providing...
- HIV & Hepatitis C Training / Presentations: We provide education to groups and organizations. Sessions are individually tailored to meet the needs of the audience.
- Targeted Prevention: We facilitate the development of appropriate, and effective prevention initiatives for populations at increased risk of HIV and/or Hepatitis C infection.
- Rural Outreach: We facilitate the implementation of HIV / Hepatitis C initiatives in the outlying rural communities in Southwestern Alberta.
- Special Events: We organize a number of special events to raise awareness of HIV / Hepatitis C issues. These include AIDS Awareness Week, a Candle Light Vigil and an Annual Spring for Life Campaign.
- Newsletter / Media Relations: Through the production of a regular newsletter and periodic press releases, we ensure that the public of Southwestern Alberta are kept informed of emerging HIV / Hepatitis C issues.
